Chengdu Panda Base & Culture Essence 2 Day City Tour

A tour within downtown Chengdu packaged of pandas and cultural sites. For local Chengdu People, especially the elders, going to a tea house to lean back in the bamboo chairs is quite a common thing in their daily life. All the day they just drink some tea, relax, chat or play Majiang, let the day pass by. To touch real Chengdu, the traditional tea house should not be missed. Kuan Zhai Alley is composed of wide alley and narrow alley, in which there are a lot of traditional Siheyuan (courtyards). It is one of the hottest tourist destinations in Chengdu that well worth a visit. The triumph of Jinli Street lies in the perfect combination of local culture and business. Three Kingdom culture block, including the Wuhou Shrine and Jinli Old Street, is quite attractive not only for its historical legend, but also for the ancient-style buildings coming down from Ming and Qing Dynasties.Wangjiang Pavilion is once upon a time the symbol of Chengdu. Named Chongli in the past, Wangjiang Pavilion refers to the most magnificent architecture along the Jinjiang River. Du Fu Thatched Cottage used to be the former home of Du Fu (712-770 AD), one of the three greatest poets in the Tang Dynasty. Like Shakespeare in English tradition, Du Fu's poetry came to be so deeply bound up with the constitution of literary value that generation after generation of poets and critics rediscovered themselves and their interests in some aspect of the poet. In the cottage he had a simple and peaceful life for three years, writing about 240 poems that were mostly inspired by the cottage, the stream nearby and the scenery in Chengdu. These poems give the impression that he was happier in Chengdu than any other time in his life. Most of the unearthed pieces of Jinsha Ruins can date back some 3,000 years ago. Many of the relics bear strong resemblance to those at Sanxingdui Ruins. Archaeologists hold the opinion that excavations at the Jinsha Ruins have changed Chengdu's history and proved once again that Chinese civilization has very diverse roots.

In this park-like base, you are sure to see many pandas at one time that we cannot realize in other places all over the world.

Wave goodbye to the lovely pandas, transfer to Jinsha Ruins, which is a rare museum among Chinese museums because of its combination of modern civilization and the civilization of ancient Shu State, as well as the combination of ecological environment and culture. Get up on the pavilion to enjoy a nice view of Jinjiang River, Chengdu’s mother river. Then shift your sight to Tang Dynasty, to visit Dufu Thatched Cottage that is well-known as the former residence of Du fu, the great poet which could be compared as Shakespear. The cottage is constituted of six important parts, namely the Front Gate, the Lobby, the Hall of Poem History, the Water Pavilion, the Gongbu (the Ministry of Works in feudal China) Shrine and the Thatched Cottage.

Have lunch in a local restaurant. After lunch, transfer to Temple of Marquis, or Wuhou Shrine, which was built up to commemorate two famous people in history. One is Emperor Liu Bei, the other is the Prime Minister Zhuge Liang, and both of them were of Shu kingdom in the period of Three Kingdoms Dynasty. It is the only temple in China where the Emperor and his Minister were sacrificed together.
